Papa Llama has a home.

Our favorite purveyor of South-of-South-of-the-Border eats has found a forever home (well, at least a place to call their own). The Hourglass District (AKA West Curry Ford) – the buzziest of buzzy ‘hoods – will add another culinary feather to its cap when Papa Llama plants its Peruvian flag at 2840 Curry Ford Road in early 2020. Tori Tori is open. Seriously. Fer realz.

Yessir. The buildout trials and travails are over. Long-awaited Mills 50 izakaya, Tori Tori, has opened its bouncer-manned doors — welcome news to food scenesters and the magpie-eyed. Expect good Japanese nibbles and crafty tipples, and – in true Domu Dynasty form – exclusivity-marketing aided by strategically visible waits. Too harsh? Perhaps. An upcoming review will tell.

We won’t shame this lovely gentleman who was indeed a gentleman. He’s just following orders.

MX Taco will soon be Celebratin’.

The last nine months have been busy for Ryan Manning and crew. A second location recently opened in Waterford Lakes and according to staff a third location will be part of a rumored Celebration food hall/court/temple. We recently dropped into location numero uno on Bumby, ate some pozole and also learned there’s plans for a much needed side patio. In addition, a “craft bar” called Orlando Milkhouse will soon be opening next-door. Drunks and tacos. Win-win. Links – @orlando_milkhouse & @restaurantmxtaco

Side note – I should just set up a quick key for ‘craft.’ So little meaning left that’s it not worth the effort of typing.

Hot chicken is a poppin’.

Chicken Fire and its Nashville-style ‘Soulful Hot Chicken’ is currently poppin’ up all over town; insta-pics paint a delicious picture. Their next Hot Chicken & Brews pop-up will be this Saturday, October 26th @orlandobrewing from 7pm-11pm. Chase them around @eatchickenfire

Tin & Taco opening in Winter Park.

We know little about Tin & Taco apart from it being an offshoot of the Gringos Locos chain. We have, however, seen pictures of its – groan – ground beef & mac n’ cheese tacos. So, we know it sells taco-like grub, we assume it doesn’t sell tin, and we’re fairly certain that the “coming soon” sign hanging in the window of now defunct Blue Donut Co. means that it’ll soon be opening in Winter Park. The location is stumbling distance from Rollins College. Again, drunks and tacos.
