F&D Woodfired Italian Kitchen is opening a new location in Sanford.

For years, we’ve scratched our heads in wonder at Sanford’s oddly untapped potential. As milquetoast master-planned communities popped up all around us, Sanford has boasted a beautiful lakefront downtown, a fantastic zoo, some seriously fun foodie haunts and wraps it all in genuinely charming old-Florida weirdness. With solid staples like Hollerbach’s Willow Tree Café, promising newbie restos like The Tennessee Truffle, a massive food truck battle or two and a thriving brewing culture, the city/town finally feels like it’s starting to turn a corner, and F&D Woodfired Italian Kitchen promises to be in the heart of it all with its new location on 1st Street.

Taste of Chengdu has its sights on Baldwin Park.

Shout out to @TheDailyCity for hipping us to the fact that Orlando Eats’ West Orlando fave, Taste of Chengdu, may be plotting a second location in Baldwin Park Village. The good news for us? Would cut about 30 minutes off of our travel time to Szechuan nirvana. The good news for you? Who cares. Did you hear about the good news for us? If it happens, they’ll be moving into the former digs of Chi at 4852/4856 New Broad Street. Universe? Ya listenin’? Make this happen.

Bangkrak Thai Street Kitchen taking a break.

Thai pop-up wunderkinders, Bangkrak, are taking a bit of a summer break after upcoming July 21/20 stints at Redlight Redlight and Whippoorwill Beerhouse & Package Store. They plan to be back in the Siam saddle three weeks after. Fearing withdrawal? Don’t. You can still quiet Khao Soi cravings and settle your Som Tam shakes with a final bite this weekend. Check out the schedule HERE.
