Sette, the scratch-Italian brainchild of Se7en Bites duo, Trina Gregory-Propst and Va Propst, is set to open this Friday, March 22 at 5:30PM. The restaurant is tucked into the corner of North Orange and Virginia in Ivanhoe Village just across from the lake. Fans of the ephemeral may know the location as the execution chamber for a parade of short-lived restaurants, the most recent being Stir.

Comparatively speaking, Orlando’s never been much of an Italian food town. There’s definitely a dearth of trattoria or osteria style dining. We have a handful of very solid pizzerias, Olive Gardens, ghetto Olive Gardens, upscale Olive Gardens, the occasional shining light. There’s a theme parker or two, Antonio’s in Maitland on occasion, but nothing truly authentic, sourced well, and everyday good. It’s always been a bit suburban, safe and slathered in vodka sauce.

Food & Drink

Sette (“seven” in Italian) promises something a bit different. Branded as rustic Italian comfort food with a modern twist, it’ll feature scratch pastas made daily, and dishes like sausage, fennel and grapes, lemon olive oil cake, and single sheet lasagna. As for us, we’re most looking forward to scratch versions of traditional plates like linguini vongole. Screw the modern twists.

There is a running theme at Sette. There will be seven white wines and seven red wines available by the glass and bottle, and seven desserts. Some local craft beer. If it delivers, there will also be far more than seven reasons to help them break the Orange-Virginia corner curse.

Sette is dinner-only for now, opening at 5:30PM Monday to Saturday, but Sundays will run from 1PM-8PM and expect Saturday brunch soon.
