Rejoice, Winter Park! A crisis has been averted. Bento has come to town; a Gainesville-based restaurant chain serving a menu of pan-Asian hodge-podgery. Yes, Orlando’s embarrassing shortage of Asian street food, Asian street fares, Asian kitchens, and build-your-own-Poke-bowl joints has come to an end. The eel sauce and cream cheese will now flow freely, slaking our thirst for fast-casual mediocrity.

Bento Asian Kitchen Orlando Restaurant

Too harsh? Probably. Brothers and owners, Johnny and Jimmy Tung, do bring a certain pedigree, having grown up around traditional Chinese kitchens in New York, and Bento is seeing a great deal of success. Perhaps, just perhaps, it’s because the food is good. Will we give it a try? You betcha. Will we like it? Watch this space.

Where is it?

(Just listen for the groans of self-loathing emanating from the adjacent LA Fitness)

What do they serve?

Sushi, poke bowls, noodle dishes, boba tea. You get the idea.
